About
Braga grew from a carriage track into the most fashionable European shopping street of the Indies, and about half of its Art Deco buildings survive. Walk north from Jalan Asia Afrika past Gedung Merdeka and the wave-fronted former DENIS bank toward the city hall, stopping at old bakeries and coffee houses on the way. Under the Braga Beken programme, which resumed in October 2026, the street is closed to vehicles all day on Sundays.
