About
Built in six months for Dominique Willem Berretty, founder of the Aneta news agency, the villa was completed in 1933 on high ground overlooking the city. Berretty died in a plane crash the following year; the building became a hotel, then a Japanese army headquarters, and from 1954 part of the teacher-training college now called Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. It still houses the rectorate, so view it from the campus gardens.
