About
Known as Kim Tek Ie or Jin De Yuan, the temple began in 1650 as Kwan Im Teng, a name that gave Indonesia the word klenteng. It was burned during the 1740 massacre of Batavia's Chinese and restored in 1755. It is busiest at Lunar New Year and on the 1st and 15th of each lunar month; the Santa Maria de Fatima church on the same street is worth a look too.
- Founded around 1650
- Dedicated to Kwan Im
- Rebuilt 1755
- Busy at Lunar New Year
