About
Taman Ayun, the 'beautiful garden', covers 6.9 hectares surrounded by water and is reached by a bridge on the south side. Its tiered shrines, from two up to eleven roofs, honour Hindu gods and the ancestors of the Mengwi dynasty, and its waters feed three subak. The inner sanctuary is reserved for worshippers, so visitors walk the outer courtyards and moat gardens.
