About
Besakih is the mother temple of Balinese Hinduism, centred on Pura Penataran Agung, and was already a state temple of the Gelgel kings by the 15th century. The ticket includes a local guide, a sarong and a one-way electric shuttle; wear a sarong and sash, keep out of areas reserved for worship, and note that by local custom women who are menstruating do not enter temple grounds.
