Every way to get around Malang, what it costs, how to pay, and where the stations and terminals are.
Ways to get around
Bus
Trans Jatim Malang Raya (MLG1)
From Rp5,000
Rp5,000 flat; Rp2,500 for school and university students and santri
East Java's provincial buses, running since November 2025 on corridor MLG1 from Terminal Hamid Rusdi via Stasiun Malang and Terminal Landungsari to Batu for one flat fare.
A single corridor of about 23 km and 18 stops inside Kota Malang, from Terminal Hamid Rusdi in the south through the centre, with stops on both sides of Stasiun Malang, to Terminal Landungsari and on to Terminal Batu.
Tips (4)
The flat fare covers the whole run to Terminal Batu, the cheapest way to reach Kota Batu.
Students pay half, so carry your student card.
Get off at the Stasiun Malang Kotabaru Timur or Barat stops to connect with trains.
Stops are close together in the centre, which some residents say slows the ride, so allow extra time.
Bus
Angkot (mikrolet)
From Rp4,000
About Rp4,000–5,000 per ride, paid in cash to the driver
Small minibuses on about 25 letter-coded routes linking Terminal Arjosari, Landungsari and Hamid Rusdi with neighbourhoods across the city.

Routes are named after their end points: AL runs Arjosari–Landungsari, ADL Arjosari–Dinoyo–Landungsari and AMH Arjosari–Mergosono–Hamid Rusdi. Rural minibuses continue from the terminals to Tumpang, Lawang, Karangploso and Batu.
Tips (4)
Read the code on the windscreen: A is Arjosari, L Landungsari, and H or G Hamid Rusdi (the old Gadang terminal).
Carry small notes and pay when you get off.
The normal fare is about Rp5,000; overcharging has been reported, so agree the price if the driver asks for more.
The city has been preparing free angkot rides for school students, so check whether the scheme has started.

Penataran and Dhoho run the Surabaya Kota–Bangil–Malang–Blitar–Kertosono loop in opposite directions, and Tumapel runs between Surabaya Kota and Malang.
Tips (4)
Seats sell out quickly, especially at weekends, so book in KAI Access ahead of time.
These are reserved-seat trains on a fixed timetable, not a metro.
In the 2026 timetable, trains toward Surabaya leave Malang at about 07:29, 10:35 and 14:47, plus a 03:40 run via Blitar.
Blimbing station is handier for the north of the city, Kotalama for the south.

From Rp135,000
Cititrans Juanda–Malang from Rp135,000 per seat; Taksi Garuda from Abdulrachman Saleh is priced by zone
Most flyers use Surabaya's Juanda airport, linked to Malang by Cititrans shuttles and travel vans; Malang's small Abdulrachman Saleh airport in Pakis relies on taxis.

Hours
Cititrans departures from Malang 02:45–19:15 and from Juanda 04:50–22:15
Goes to
Cititrans runs eight trips a day each way between Juanda and its Malang pool in 8-seat Toyota Hiace vans, and door-to-door travel operators pick up from homes and hotels. No angkot reaches the Abdulrachman Saleh terminal, so arrivals take Taksi Garuda, run by an air force cooperative.
Tips (3)
Cititrans is pool to pool, so add a ride from your hotel to the Malang pool.
Door-to-door travel vans cost more but save that extra transfer.
Flights at Abdulrachman Saleh cluster between mid-morning and mid-afternoon, so Juanda is the backup for early or late flights.
