Pasar Besar Malang
PBM
Malang's biggest traditional market, on the edge of the old Pecinan: four floors of fresh produce, wholesale staples and everyday goods.
- Address
- Jl. Pasar Besar, Sukoharjo, Klojen
- Area
- Klojen, Klojen (Central)
About
The city took over the old Pecinan market in 1914 and rebuilt it between 1919 and 1924. After big fires it was rebuilt in 1991 as the walled four-storey block you see today, with the traditional market on the first two floors and a department store and wholesale floors above. A long-debated revitalisation was not on the 2026 agenda, so the market trades on as before; come in the morning, and pair it with cwie mie at nearby Depot Hok Lay.
- Largest traditional market in the city
- Wholesale hub for daily staples
- In the old Pecinan quarter
- Close to Alun-alun Merdeka
